Vision is about knowing where you want to go. Our vision for St Faith’s is:
To be a welcoming progressive Christian community
of all ages and all stages of faith, nurturing spiritual growth,
and representing God’s living presence in our town.
What do we mean by each part of our vision statement?
A welcoming and progressive Christian community
recognises that it is our shared Christian faith which forms and unites us as a community, and that we want the welcome of each other and of others to be a significant hallmark of St Faith’s.
Progressive recognises that the culture and world we live in is constantly changing, and that we as a community need to find new ways to communicate the Gospel message to our town.
All ages and all stages of faith
recognises that God calls us as the church to be multigenerational, and that we need to provide spaces in our worship and community life for all ages, for people who have been Christians many years, and for those who are exploring faith for the first time.
Nurturing spiritual growth
recognises that spiritual growth is important for all of us, no matter how long we’ve been believers, and as a church we commit ourselves to helping each other experience God, deepen our faith through prayer and reading the Bible together, and applying our faith to our daily lives.
Representing God’s living presence in our town
recognises that as a parish church we have a ministry to the people of Lee-on-the-Solent, expressed through seeking to show God’s love to our town in practical ways. This will include involvement in community life – schools, old people’s homes, community events, etc – as well as baptisms, weddings and funerals. But it will also involve us seeking to really make a difference in Lee by addressing the needs of people in our town.
